Dean Douglas Busing was born to Keith and Berdene
(Hauser) Busing. Dean grew up in Alexandria, NE and his family later
moved to Lincoln, NE where he attended Lincoln Northeast High School.
He joined the US Marines and served in Viet Nam in the Eighth
Engineering Battalion in munitions demolition and equipment repair.
Dean received an honorable medical discharge and was the recipient of
the Purple Heart. After returning home he studied geology and
construction science at the University of NE. Dean was married to Deb
Rishel on December 28, 1996 in Ashland, Nebrask. He worked at Western
Sand & Gravel near Ashland from 1976 to 2007 as the general manager.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #129 and the VFW Post
#9776 in Ashland. He was a past member of Pomegranate Lodge #110 AF &
AM in Ashland and Seostris Shrine. Dean served as the Saunders County
Commissioner for District #1 since 2003 and was an Ashland City
Councilman from 2000 to 2003 and was council president for 1 ½ years.
He served on the Clear Creek Drainage District from 1977 to 2006 and
was the acting president for 18 years.
Dean is survived by his wife Deb Busing, son Joe Busing, brother and
sister in law, Tim and Carmen Busing, nephews Mark Busing and Scott
Busing. He was preceded in death by his parents Keith and Berdene
Busing.
