Steve was born to Earl and Joan (Fidler)
Durbin. Steve grew up in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in
1969. He played baseball, football and wrestled while in high school and
continued to play league baseball after graduation. Steve was a member of
the four person Boys of Woodcraft Rifle Team that won a national
championship. He was also a cub scout and boy scout and belonged to the
Ashland Saddle Club and 4-H. After high school he worked at Western Electric
in Omaha and later transferred to their company in Northglen, Colorado.
After two years, he moved back to Ashland and began working at
Archer-Daniels-Midland in Lincoln. He worked in the soybean extraction
section there for 32 years.
Steve is survived by his children Kelly Durbin,
Lincoln, NE, Denise Durbin, Seattle, WA, their mother Roxanne Durbin,
Lincoln, NE, granddaughter Savanna Durbin, Lincoln, mother Joan Durbin,
Ashland, brother Dan Durbin, CO, sisters Jody Durbin and friend Mark Reber,
Lincoln, Sherri and Steve Olsen, Ashland, nephews Dustin Durbin and Cody
Olsen, Ashland and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Earl
Durbin.
