Lloyd was born in the rural Ceresco area to Irl R. and Elsie M. (Fowler) Edwards. He attended and graduated from Ashland High School in 1939. He also attended one year of college.  On September 18, 1942, he entered the United States Army from Ft. Crook, Neb. He was discharged on February 13, 1946 from Camp Biehl, California. Lloyd began working at Omaha Printing Company as a typesetter where he stayed for 10 years. He was then employed at The Ashland Gazette as a linotype operator for 30 years, at which time he retired.

Lloyd was a member for over 50 years of several organizations including the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge Pome-granate Chapter 110, Matthews Chapter 242, American Legion Post 129 and VFW Post 9776. He was honored as the 1972 Ashland Stir-Up King. He was also presented the Grand Lodge Humanitarian Award in 1991, was Deputy Grand Custodian of the Grand Lodge for the State of Nebraska from 1960 to 2008, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, was Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for several years, held two terms on the Ashland School Board, was Worthy Patron for seven years plus other volunteer activities throughout his life.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Graver; brother, Ernest O. Edwards and nephew, Ralph Graver.  He is survived by cousins and friends.
