Rita was born to Frederick and Margaret (Sullivan) Leonard. She grew up in Omaha, NE and attended Jungman Grade School and Omaha South High School. Riat was a member of the US Army. While in the army she worked as US Postal Worker. While in Omaha she worked as a surgical technician before moving to the Ashland area where she worked in Home Health Care for many years.

Rita was married Harold Grauerholz on Dec. 8, 1945 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Omaha. She and Harold lived in the Ashland area their whole married life, except for a short time in Nora Springs, IA.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ashland, Ashland VFW Auxiliary #9776, South Omaha Eagles Club Aerie #154 and the Red Hat Society of Ashland.

Rita loved helping others, flowers, rubber stamping and making cards for all of her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Lyn Brown, Omaha, NE, Gayle Uker, Rockford, IA, sons and daughter in law, Larry Grauerholz, Omaha, Dennis and Mary Grauerholz, Nora Springs, IA, grandchildren, David Brown, Bryan Brandau, Dan Grauerholz and Dr. Sarah Alden, 6 great grandchildren, sister, Patricia Young, her dog, Maggie and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded by her husband, grandsons, Michael and Charles, and brothers and sisters.
