Radie "Raida" L. Kern

Radie "Raida" Lucile Kern was born to James and Hannah (Rasmussen) Knoell. She grew up in Fremont and attended school there. On April 25, 1940, she was united in marriage to Donald B. Kern. They lived in California and Fremont and moved to Ashland in 1956. They owned and operated the Chuck Wagon Café in Ashland. She also worked at the Ashland Cleaners for many years. Raida retired from No Frills Supermarket as a checkout clerk after twenty years. She was a member of the Ashland First Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post #129 of Ashland.
 

Preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; granddaughter Sherry Coffin; grandson, Scott Kern; son in law Charles Coffin; brothers, Pete, James and Richard Knoell; sisters Lily Milligan and Lois Docken.
 

Survivor by her son, daughter in law Clifford and June Kern; daughters, son in law Shirley and LeRoy Dimmitt, Sharon Coffin, all of Ashland; son Clayton Kern; daughter, son in law Linda and Darrel Kuhlman, all Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Deb Forsgren, Roger Coffin, Jim Kern, Robin Sarver, Susie Short, Bruce Kern, Troy Kuhlman, Jason Kern and Jim Dimmitt; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters Helen Kracl, Fremont, NE, Betty Klevemann, Columbus, NE, Liz Pojar and Vi Povondra, both Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews.
