Jerry L. Campbell, age 69, of Ashland, NE, died March 26, 2010 at his home. He  was born on September 25, 1940 to Raymond Campbell and Lula Pike (Vosler) in Ashland.  Jerry moved to Lincoln when he was ten to live with his dad and finish his schooling at Lincoln High where he graduated in 1958.  Jerry married Cecelia Matthews on December 26, 1959 and they resided in Ashland for a short time. Jerry & Cec then moved to O’Neill for eight years and then moved back to Ashland for the remainder of his life. He worked at Western Electric for twenty-two years, then worked at Dowd’s Irrigation in O’Neill Nebraska for eight years.  Jerry went to work for City Wide Sand & Gravel and then at Mallard Sand as a Quality Control Superintendent for eighteen years.  He finished with eight years at Lyman Richey from which he retired. Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and  attended many of the school activities.  He loved spending time hunting and fishing with all the children, teaching them about the great outdoors.  Jerry contributed to many Christian organizations as well as hunting & fishing organizations.

Jerry & Cec had seven children and spouses  Jerry Jr & Marisue Campbell, Ashland, Patty & Rusty Withrow, Alvo, Mary & Larry Read, Greeley CO, Allen & Laurel Campbell Ashland, Matt & Nancy Campbell Ashland, Shawn Campbell & Vicki Wittstruck Ashland, fourteen grandkids, fifteen great grandkids, brother Raymond Campbell, Lincoln, NE, sisters, Doris Marie Wiggins, NV, Cheryl Pallas, Ashland, Betty Rae Cookus, Ginger Brock, both of Lincoln, brother in law Tony Denny, Omaha.  Jerry is preceded in death by one infant son Kevin Ray Campbell, mother, father, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. 

Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashland, Rev. Gary Coulter, clergy. Visitation on Sunday, 5:00 – 7:30 PM with a rosary at 7:30 PM all at the church. A graveside committal on Tuesday, March. 30, 2010 at 12:30 PM at the O’Neill Cemetery in O’Neill, NE. Pallbearers include Peter P. Matthews Jr, Leo P. Matthews, Dustin Read, Daniel Read, Joshua Read, Colt Campbell, Colby Reynoldson, Dave Marris, Richard Root and Rudy Smith.
