LeRoy passed away August 9, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.  He was born in Rural Greenwood, NE on March 14, 1929 to James M. and Vera (Jardine) Dimmitt. LeRoy attended Ashland High School and graduated in 1948. Following high school he served four years in the US Navy. He returned to Ashland and worked at the Mead Ordinance Plant and Peoples Natural Gas Company. Then he began a 39 year career at Good Year Tire & Rubber in Lincoln and retired from there in 1994. LeRoy also served as a reserve Ashland Police Officer in the 1970’s and 1980’s. LeRoy was married to Shirley Kern on Jan. 12, 1963 in Ashland. They made their home and raised their children in Ashland. LeRoy was a member of the American Legion Post #129 and the VFW Post #9776 for over 50 years. He belonged to the Police Officers Association, United Rubber Workers Union and was a member of the Good Year Mixed Bowling League.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley; daughters and sons in law Deb and Lynn Forsgren, Lincoln, NE, Susie and Vern Short, Ashland; son Jim Dimmitt, Ashland; grandchildren Donny, Dustin, Tausha, Cyndi, Brianna, Parker and Chase; four great grandchildren; brother Ted Dimmitt, Fremont, NE. Preceded in death by wife Beulah and parents.
