Elton H. Erickson was born March 25, 1917 near Greenwood, NE to George V. and Edna (Mathis) Erickson. The family moved to Kirk, CO when Elton was very young. He later moved back to the Greenwood area and graduated from Waverly High School in 1937.

He did construction work in the Lincoln, NE area for a few years until joining the National Guard in 1940. On July 23, 1943, Elton was married to Viola Slote at the Hickman Presbyterian Church. He was inducted into the US Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater with the 110th Medical Battallion in the 35th Division. He was discharged on Oct. 16, 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. When he returned home, he and Viola farmed near Greenwood from 1946 to 1972. It was then that they moved into Ashland. Following that, he took a job at Dorsey Laboratory and retired from there in 1981. Elton and Viola had recently moved into the Oxbow Living Center.

Elton was a member of the Ashland United Methodist Church for over 50 years and served on various boards and committees. He belonged to the American Legion Post #129, the VFW Post #9776, Pomegranate Lodge #110 AF & AM for over 50 years, Scottish Rite, Sesostris Shrine, Platte Valley Shrine, Novis Corp, Eastern Star and had served on the Ashland Greenwood School Board and was a past president.

Elton is survived by wife Viola; sons and daughters in law, Roger and Karen Erickson, Des Moines, IA, Daryl and Deb Erickson, Greenwood, NE; daughter and son in law, Nadine and Mike Ellingson, Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Mardelle Meyerott, Omaha, NE, Ruth and Ralph Parkening, Plattsmouth, NE; nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by parents and brother Donald Erickson.   

Pallbearers are: Justin, Travis and Troy Erickson, Donnie Laughlin, Farrel Miller and Bill Maack; Honorary pallbearers are Leland Hiatt, Art Laughlin and Ellis Bockelman;
