Emmet R. Meyers was born on February 22, 1928 to
Alfred Hoig and Blanche Meyers in the rural Greenwood, Nebraska area.
He passed away after a short illness at the age of 82 at his home in
rural Greenwood.
He attended elementary rural school at District
#81, then to Greenwood for 9th grade and onto Ashland High School
where he graduated in 1945. Emmet served in the US Navy from 1945-1949
coming back to Nebraska working for his uncles for a few years.
Emmet then attended the University of Nebraska for 2 years, later
serving our country in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1970, retiring to
the farm and raising cattle and farming.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn Comstock on
June 12, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN and to this union were born three
children Linda, Carlin and Hank.
Emmet was a member of the Ashland VFW Post #9776
and Legion Post #129, participating in the Color Guard for a time.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three
uncles: George, Louis and Henry.
Emmet is survived by his wife Marilyn, Greenwood;
Daughters and son in law Linda Ems, Lincoln; Carlin (Cory) Hohman,
Hutto, TX; son Hank, Greenwood; 5 grandchildren: SPC Ryan and his wife
Christi Hohman, Ft. Bragg, NorthCarolina; Tracie Hohman, Hutto, TX;
Henry Ems, Lincoln; Shelby Hohman, Hutto, TX; Jacey Johnson,
Greenwood. And trusted friend Gunner.
