Lucile Marie Westlake was born to Arthur and Mabel Wiedeman Reece. She was
baptized at the Greenwood Christian Church and attended country school
through the eighth grade. Lucile went to Greenwood High School her first two
years and the last two years of high school were at Ashland High School
where she graduated in 1934. On January 4, 1941, Lucile was united in
marriage to Clarence Westlake in Sidney, Iowa. After they were married they
made their home on a farm just east of Eagle, Nebraska. Besides being a
homemaker, she also did housecleaning for several years. Because of
deteriorating health, she moved into the Ashland Care Center in Ashland
several months ago. She passed away on February 8, 2010 at St. Elizabeth
Regional Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 93.
Lucile had been a member of the Eagle United Methodist Women, the “O” Street
Homemakers Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #147, and the Loyal Order
of Moose Lodge #175. She also had been active in the Eagle and Palmyra
Senior Centers.
Lucile is survived by her son and daughter in law, Gene and Barbara Westlake
of Alvo, NE, her daughter and son in law, Helen and Donald Bley of Waverly,
NE, her grandchildren, Debbie Bley, Bobbi Jo, and Ernie and Kevin Headley
along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband
Clarence Westlake, son Robert Westlake, and brothers Everett and Harold
Reece.
