Mildred was born to Joseph and Emma (Woita)Kucera. She was baptized in infancy at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon, NE. She attended schools at Mead Consolidated School, St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, Wahoo High School and later graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School. She attended Midland College in Fremont in 1938 and 1939. Mildred worked in Omaha for a short time and met and was married to Harold F. Asmussen by Rev. Raymond Wageman on February 20, 1939 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs. They made their home in Omaha for six years and then lived on a farm near Cedar Bluffs from 1945 to 1973, when they moved to Wahoo. Mildred was active in many civic organizations, clubs and church groups.  She was a member of the Prague American Auxiliary Unit #254.  Mildred  was a parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters.
 
Preceded in death by husband Harold F. Asmussen, sister Yvonne Williams.
 
Survived by children and spouses  Joane L. and Roger Kirchhoefer, Omaha, Gordyne and Jack Behrens, San Juan Capistrano, CA, Alyce Allen, Hal and Shirley Asmussen, all Omaha, Janis and Randy Siefkes, Pasadena, CA, Timothy and Teresa Asmussen, Ft. Collins, CO, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sister Lucille Shanahan, Omaha, brothers Ray Kucera, Cedar Bluffs and Joe (Rene) Kucera, Omaha, many nieces and nephews.
