Tom was born to Vincent and Helen (Zimola) Konecky. A devoted husband and fantastic father, Tom loved his faith, his family and farming the land his grandparents settled on after coming from Czechoslovakia. He was an active member of St. Wenceslaus church, serving in many various capacities throughout his lifetime.  He devoted his life to improving the Guernsey breed, building a nationally renowned herd and serving the dairy industry in many leadership roles. He raised his children under the precepts of hard work, determination, respect, honesty and personal integrity, teaching that all the cattle got fed before the kids. He shared his leadership skills in many areas locally, regionally and nationally, including serving as a 4-H Leader for 50 years, District 44 School Board, Nebraska Dairy Council, Dairy Farmers of America board member, American Guernsey Cattle Club - national director, and the Knights of Columbus.
