George was born to George and Hazel Goos.  He grew up in Norfolk with his younger brother Doug. George was very involved at Norfolk High School.  He was a skilled basketball player and won more than one free throw tournament.  He was an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society and student council. He also enjoyed participating in drama, choir and playing the coronet, a trumpet like instrument, in the band..

George attended UNL where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and graduated with a degree in Geology in 1958..
.
After graduation he moved to Omaha and worked for the City of Omaha for a year. In 1959, he began working for Lamp, Rynearson and Associates as a draftsman and met Marlene (Purdy) Goos. George and Marlene were married for twenty-four years and have three children, Dave, Dianne and Kara.

George served in many positions during his 40+ year career with Lamp, Rynearson & Associates including President and CEO. Even after retirement he enjoyed going into the office every day and being around all his friends there.

George enjoyed golfing, traveling and cooking, he even traveled to Italy to take cooking classes. His other hobbies included watching football, playing the stock market, listening to classical music and of course spending time with family and friends. George enjoyed a little playful teasing and was slow to anger. After his stroke he would get frustrated at times but he didnt allow it to keep him from doing the things he loved to do, which was to spend time with all of you!  We are comforted knowing that he had a good life. Thank you all for your friendship to George and his family.  We will miss him dearly and know you will too!
