Nyle was born to Robert W. and Leora M. (Nygren) Hageman. He
grew up on the family farm southeast of Ithaca, NE and attended
District #16 grade school. He graduated from Mead High School in
1967 and attended a technical school in Des Moines, IA where he
studied electronics. He was drafted into the US Army in 1969 and
served as an Acetylene Gas Specialist in Okinowa, Japan. Nyle began
a long career at Burlington Northern Railroad in 1976 as a car/man
welder and worked there until his health prevented him from working
in recent months. Nyle was united in marriage to Julie Polacek on
April 13, 1985 at the Ashland United Methodist Church. They lived in
Ashland until moving to the country near Ithaca in 2000. Besides
taking care of some ponies, Nyle also raised turkeys and ducks. Nyle
and Julie opened their home to many foster children through the
years, helping them in any way they could. He was a member of the
Ithaca United Methodist Church and a former member of the Iliff
Chapel Methodist Church in Memphis, NE.
Preceded in death by parents, brother in law, Kent Thomsen, uncle,
Leslie Hageman.
Survived by wife Julie, children, spouses, Carmella and Bret
Uptagraft, Oshkosh, WI, Vanessa and James Thompson, Lockesburg, AR,
Brandon and Shannon Hageman, Yutan, NE, eight grandchildren,
sisters, Sandra Thomsen, Ceresco, NE, Renae (Joe) Knight, McKinney,
TX, Roxanne (Jack) Blake, Lincoln, brother Brad Hageman, Wahoo, NE,
uncle and aunt, Joe and Ginger Hageman, Lincoln, many nieces and
nephews.
