Cheri was born to Charles and Wilma (Prchal) Brabec. She grew up on her parents farm southeast of Wahoo and attended District #42 country school through the eighth grade. She later graduated from Wahoo High School in 1965. Cheri worked several jobs during her years living in Wahoo. She worked at Campbell Soup Company in Fremont and Platte Valley Foods in Wahoo. She also worked at Foxley Cattle Company, now known as Mead Cattle Company, and at the Wahoo Civic Center. In 1991 she moved to Lincoln and worked for a roofing company for several years until her health prevented her from working. Cheri was the mother of seven children, Theresa, Christine, Laurie, Julie, Ron, Jesse and Jerry. Cheri loved gardening, especially raising tomatoes and strawberries. She enjoyed fishing and camping and being around her grandchildren. She also loved her toy poodle, Eric, whom she gave the nickname, Bubba. Even though Cheri didn't always have the means, she was a giving and caring person and maintained a happy spirit despite having a difficult life at times.

Cheri leaves behind her daughters and sons in law, Theresa and Richard Allen, Christine Gronie, here in Nebraska, Laurie and Tony Milenkovich, Winside, NE, Julie and Chuck Behrens, Columbus, NE, her sons and daughter in law, Ron Patz, Lincoln, Jesse Slosser, Norfolk, NE, and Jerry and Kristy Robinson, Lincoln, 13 grandchildren, niece Tracy and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Mike Brabec and infant sister Christine Brabec.
