Mathias "Math" was born to Mathias G. and Sophie (Hobza) Sladky.  He: attended St. Wenceslaus School in Wahoo, NE.  Math was a 20 year Military Veteran of the Army National Guard where he worked as an aircraft mechanic until retiring in 1995. Math married Dorothy "Dottie" Skoda on September 12, 1994 in Lincoln, NE.  Along with is wife Dottie, Math formed M&D Tour and Travel, which specialized in taking people to Czechoslovakia.

Math was a polka band leader and a member of the Dwight American Legion #110, Wisconsin Polka Boosters, #1 Mid-Western Polka Club of Kansas, Oklahoma Polka Club, Czech Heritage Foundation, Inc. Math was inducted into the Omaha Sokol Polka Hall of Fame in 1987, the Milligan Hall of fame in 2002 and the Chicago National IPA Polka Music Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a former 1st Vice President of the Lincoln Czech Club, a band leader since 1952 and a musician since 1945.

Math is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Sladky, Valparaiso, son & daughter in law, Robert A. & Rosemary Sladky, Waverly, NE, daughter & son in law, Edna Mae & Bill Fencl, Bruno, NE,  5 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 12 great grandchildren, 2 step-sons & step daughter in law, Leonard J. Pospisil, Jr., Lawrence & Kim Pospisil, both of Lincoln, NE, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister & brother in law, Mary Ann & Anthony Osmera, Weston, NE, 3 brothers & sisters in law, Joe & Clarice Sladky, Omaha, NE, Bernie & Emily Sladky, Wahoo, NE, and Richard & Linda Sladky, Omaha, NE.
