William was born in rural Loma, NE on July 29, 1918
to John and Mary (Rezec) Stoupa. He grew up near Loma and attended a
country school near his home. In 1939 BWilliam moved to Saunders
County and was united in marriage to Mary Mastera on April 15, 1941 at
St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. They made their home on a
farm east of Colon until 1991 when they retired to Wahoo. Bill served
in the US Army Air Corps from September of 1942 to November of 1945,
and was stationed in England. He was a member of the Colon Volunteer
Fire Department for 32 years. He was also a member of American Legion
Bartek Carlson Post #265 of Colon, served on the honor guard for many
years as well as being a member of the 40 & 8. Bill was a parishioner
of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
William was preceded in death by: parents, wife Mary Mastera Stoupa,
brothers Frank, John, Joseph and Edward. He is survived by daughter
and son in law, Rose and Wayne Burling, grandson, Chris Burling,
granddaughter and her husband, Leah and Matt Huber, great
grandchildren, Lucas, Alisha and Jordan Huber, all of Lincoln, NE, as
well as nieces and nephews.
