Alvera E. Ziegenbein was born near Memphis, Nebraska on Dec. 3, 1918 to George and Anna (Otto) Jacobs. She attended a one room country school a few miles north of Memphis. She attended high school in Wahoo and in Ashland. Alvera was confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church near Ithaca, NE. On Jan. 20, 1936, she was united in marriage to Laurence Ziegenbein in Gretna, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm near Memphis where she raised their four children. Alvera was an active member at the Iliff Chapel Methodist Church in Memphis during their years living near there. They retired and lived near Ceresco for nine years and she became a member of the United Methodist Church in Ceresco. For the last fourteen years while living in Wahoo, Alvera was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wahoo. She had served as a 4-H Leader, a School District #6 board member and on the election board.

Alvera is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Bonnie and Larry Finley of Omaha, Sharon Markel, Sandy and Andy Hutson, all of Wahoo, son and daughter in law, Larry and Marilyn Ziegenbein of Clinton, Missouri, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sister Mabel Swanson of Ceresco, NE, sister in law Fern Hauschild of Ashland, and special friends, the Hospice Team and the Saunders House Staff.

She was preceded in death by her husband Laurence Ziegenbein and grand daughter Pamela Lervig.
