Ann Bartek, age 100, long time resident of Wahoo, NE passed away on
Friday, September 3, 2010 in Wahoo, NE. She was born on December
4, 1909 on the family farm near Colon, NE to Anton and Mary (Zimola)
Kralik. She attended district school near Colon, NE and St.
Wenceslaus Catholic School in Wahoo before graduating from Wahoo High
School. After high school Ann graduated from beauty school in Omaha.
She was a beautician until getting married in September of 1937 to
Barney Bartek. They were married at St. Wenceslaus Catholic
Church, Wahoo, NE and she became a housewife. Ann loved fishing,
oil painting, reading murder mystery books, living in Nebraska and
being an American. She lived her entire married life in Wahoo, NE.
Ann was a life long member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, charter
member of the St. Wenceslaus Choir, Altar Rosary Society, St.
Ludmilla's Guild and a member of the Czech Singers of Saunders County.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Barney, and sisters
Mary Sudik and Lucy Havelka. She is survived by her daughter and
son in law, Mary and John Mahrt of Cedar Bluffs, NE, 3 grandsons,
Jared and wife Nita Mahrt, Joel Mahrt and Jeff Mahrt. 2 great grand
daughters, Jonnie and Jennifer Mahrt, and many other friends and
relatives.
