Robert D. Couton Jr. was born November 10, 1953 in Yuma, AZ to Robert
D. and Patricia (Fahey) Couton. Because of his father's job, his
family lived in several states until Bob was 12 years old. At that
time, his father died and they settled in Loup City, NE where Bob
graduated from high school in 1972. He obtained a B.S. in banking
administration at Doane College in Crete, NE. He also played baseball,
tennis and golf while in college. Bob began working at National Bank
of Commerce in Lincoln, NE. On June 26, 1976, he was united in
marriage to Joann Snitily at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in
Plasi. They made their home in Ceresco, NE from 1976 until 1991. Bob
started his career at Wahoo State Bank in 1989 and they moved to their
home in Wahoo in 1991. He was currently serving as the Senior Vice
President at the bank. Bob was a parishioner at St. Wenceslaus
Catholic Church; served on the boards of: the Consumer Credit
Counseling Service, the Southeast Nebraska Affordable Housing Council,
the Greater Wahoo Development Foundation, and the Saunders Medical
Foundation; and was a longtime member of Hilltop Country Club. Bob will be remembered for his commitment to
helping others in the community. He had an uplifting spirit and an
endless faith and love for his family. Bob was an avid reader, always
searching for information about numerous subjects.
Bob is survived by his wife Joann; son
Rob and his fiancé Sheila Jarecke and her sons Jacob and Aaron, all of
Fort Worth, TX; daughters Julie and Krista, of Wahoo; brothers Dick
Couton of Crocker, MO, Mike and his wife Lori Couton of
Fredericksburg, VA; sister Sue and her husband Tom Obermiller of
Arcadia, NE; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents.
