Gayle L. Hattan, age 80, was a long time resident of Wahoo, NE. He
died Tuesday February 16, 2010 in Lincoln, NE. Gayle was born on March 31,
1929 in Genoa, NE to Gaylord and Janet (Greig) Hattan. He graduated
from Lincoln High School the received his Masters Degree in Dairy Science
from the University of Nebraska. Gayle served in the US Marine Corp
during WWII. He had a passion for woodworking, flowers and gardening. Gayle
married Margaret "Peg" Martin on June 16, 1950 at the St. Mary's Cathedral
in Lincoln, NE. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2006.
Gayle moved to Wahoo in 1952. He was the Saunders County Extension Agent for
over 30 years retiring in 1986. He was a big promoter of the 4 H programs
all across Saunders County. Gayle was a member ot St. Wenceslaus Catholic
Church.
Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, daughter, Sue
Petska, sister, Barbara and brother Robert. He is urvived by his children
and spouses Gary and Debbie Hattan, Sioux City, IA, Mike and Jody Hattan,
Dakota Dunes, SD, Jackie Hattan-Ellis and Ray Tucker, Lincoln, Patty and
Arthur Pelletier, Hamilton, MA, Paul and Becky Hattan, Maggie and Doug
Torson, all Lincoln, Sarah Hattan and Grady Allen, Pine Meadows, CT, son in
law Bob Petska, Wahoo, NE, 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers
and sisters in law, Jack and Ruth Hattan, Aurora, NE, Glenn and Betty Hattan,
Lincoln, NE.
