Joseph P. "Joe" Jansa, Jr. was born in Ceresco, Nebraska on June 22, 1930 to Joseph P. Sr. and Gabriella (Walla) Jansa. He attended District 49 School and St. John Elementary School as a young man. After farming and living in the Weston area for many years Joe moved to a farm southwest of Wahoo and then into Wahoo in 1997. During the years he farmed in the Weston area, he drove a truck at night hauling livestock to the former Omaha stockyards. Also during this time he shelled corn for 19 years. Joe always did his own mechanical repair work.  Later, he managed the Farmers Co-op Elevator for five years in Weston before working on a section crew for the Burlington Northern Railroad in the Ashland area and later at the Havelock shop wheel plant, retiring in 1992. After he retired Joe continued to farm southwest of Wahoo.

Joe died on December 13, 2010 at the age of 80 at the Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo, where he had been a resident the last 5 months. Joe was a parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and was a member of the South Omaha Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #154. Joe loved listening  and dancing to polka music.

Joe is survived by his longtime special friend, Jean Keller, Lincoln, Nebraska, son Glenn Jansa, Ontario, California, daughter Marla Roberts, Lincoln, grandson Garret Roberts, sister in law Lillian Jansa, brother in law Martin Wotipka, both of Wahoo, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Allan Jansa, brother Adolph Jansa, and sisters Blanche Wotipka and Mary Vanek.
