Lillian Ostry was born August 3, 1919 in Prague, NE to Frank and
Anna (Palensky) Ostry. She grew up on a farm northwest of Prague
where she lived her entire life except for the last few years, when
she was living in Wahoo. Lillian attended Prague elementary school
and one year of high school. She took care of all the household
duties, including raising a large garden and canning. Lillian was
the last person to raise ducks for the annual St. John's Duck
Dinner. She enjoyed raising a garden and flowers, baking and
canning, and crocheting and sewing. She was known for making the
most beautiful doilies. In her younger days, she loved to dance and
still enjoyed listening to polka music. Lillian was a parishoner at
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she belonged to the Altar
Rosary Society of which she was a group leader. She was also a
member of the Prague American Legion Post #254 Auxiliary.
