Rita C. Paseka was born August 2, 1922 near Morse Bluff, Nebraska to Mike and Anna (Bratrsovsky) Pabian. She grew up in the Cedar Hill area near Morse Bluff attending a nearby country school and also Linwood High School. She was united in marriage to Joseph C. Paseka on February 13, 1945 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Anne at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. They made their home on a farm northeast of Prague where she lived the rest of her life. She worked as a homemaker and farm wife raising a big garden and many chickens and ducks to feed her family. Chicken was her favorite to serve. Rita loved baking, making rye bread and strudel. She loved playing bingo and cards and doing crossword puzzles. Being with her grandchildren was a great joy for her.

Rita passed away October 7, 2010 in Wahoo at the age of 88 years. She was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society, First  Catholic Slavok Ladies Association and the American Legion Post #254 Auxiliary.

Rita is survived by her daughters and sons in law, JoAnn and Larry Johnson, Malmo, NE, Janice and Richard Wielage, Mead, NE; sons and daughters in law, Ronald and Debra, Richard and Beverly, Raymond, Robert and Mary Ann, Roger and Joyce, and Randy and Christina, all of Prague, NE; 28 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; sister Anne Nesladek, North Bend, NE. Preceded in death by husband Joseph C. Paseka; brothers, Mike, Thomas, Victor and Frank Pabian; sister Marie Schuler.
