Steven C. Schneider, age 55 of Lincoln, NE died Friday, February 12, 2010 at
his home. He was born October 12, 1954 in Omaha and his parents were
Clarence and Ethel Schneider. Steve grew up south of Bennington, NE and
attended elementary school and high school in Bennington where he graduated
in 1973. After studying at the College of St. Mary he worked as an LPN at
Clarkson Hospital in Omaha and also at a hospital in Denver, CO. Steve moved
to Kansas City, MO and became interested in the restoration of old houses.
He met his wife, Sally Oestmann there, and they were married on April 17,
1982 at St. Paul (Hickory Grove) Lutheran Church in Auburn, NE. They moved
to Lincoln, NE in 1985 and Steve wanted a formal education in construction
and attained an associate degree in that field at Southeast Community
College in Milford in 1986. After that he was self employed in remodeling
older homes in the Lincoln area. Steve was a member of Zion Presbyterian
Church and Promise Keepers. He had served on the Board of Directors of the
Historic Haymarket and was a willing volunteer for many church and community
activities.
Steve is survived by his wife Sally, son Nathan, daughter Elizabeth all of
Lincoln, and his father Clarence Schneider of Ft. Calhoun, NE. He was
preceded in death by his mother Ethel Schneider.
There will be a prayer service Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 10:15 AM
followed by a funeral service at 10:45 AM at Zion Presbyterian Church, 5511
S. 27th Street in Lincoln. Pastor Stu Kerns, clergy. Interment will follow
at 3:30 PM at Flower Hill Cemetery near Bennington. Visitation will be from
5 – 8:00 PM at John A. Gentleman Pacific Street Chapel, 14151 Pacific Street
in Omaha. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Nebraska
Childrens Home, Zion Presbyterian Church, American Bible Society or
Encouragement Unlimited.
