Raymond J. Urban Sr., age 83, Wahoo, Nebraska, died April 18, 2010 at
Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo. Raymond was born in Prague, NE
on November 29, 1926 to Joseph and Bessie (Chmelka) Urban. He grew up in
Prague and attended school at Prague Public School. When Raymond was very
young, he drove a milk truck for Frank Petrzelka Milk Company of Prague. On
March 6, 1945, Raymond joined the US Army and served until he was honorably
discharged on December 26, 1946. Upon returning from the service, he worked
as a gravel truck driver for Wolf Sand and Gravel in North Bend, NE for
several years. On May 17, 1958, Raymond was married to Marjorie Kremlacek at
Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE. They made their home
on a farm west of Malmo, NE. Shortly after they were married, Ray began to
work at the Wahoo Packing Plant and later for Schuyler Packing Plant. He
changed careers and worked for Beale Construction and later Kingery
Construction, working as a brick tender for many years. Ray was a
parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and also at Sts. Cyril &
Methodius Catholic Church before moving to Wahoo in 1999. He was a lifetime
member of the Prague American Legion Post #254.
Raymond was preceded in death by parents; daughter Noreen Ostry; grandson
Mitchell Ostry; brother Emil Urban and an infant brother. He is survived by
wife Marjorie; daughter and son in law Renee and Daniel Codr, Prague, NE;
sons and daughters in law Ray Jr. and Ruby Urban, Jerry and Lisa Urban, Mark
and Julie Urban, all Malmo, NE; 14 grandchildren; brother and sister in law
Frank and Marcie Urban, Wahoo; several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 10:00 AM, St.
Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Wahoo; Rev. Charles Townsend, clergy; interment
at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery, Plasi, NE with military honors
by American Legion Post #254; pallbearers are Raymond Urban Jr., Jerry
Urban, Mark Urban, Dan Codr, Brandon Ostry, Tyler Urban, Kyle Codr and Kalen
Codr; visitation Tuesday, 2 - 8:00 PM with family greeting friends 5 - 7:00
PM and parish rosary 7:00 PM all at Svoboda Funeral Home, Wahoo.
